The Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) has awarded $125,000 for improvements to Buttery Brook Park in the Town of South Hadley, Massachusetts.  The new funding is in addition to the $250,000 received by the park last year.  “Our local parks are an important part of everyday life in the Pioneer Valley and I am pleased with the Department of Conservation and Recreation’s commitment to ensure that future generations will be able to enjoy Buttery Brook Park.” said Representative Scibak.  The South Hadley Recreation Department has expressed a desire to construct new bathroom facilities which will be centrally located and more accessible.  Future improvements may also include a small spray park, expanded playground, tennis/basketball courts, dog park, and a fitness trail as more funding becomes available.  “Parks play key roles in improving the body and minds of the people of the Commonwealth and this funding ensures that the Town of South Hadley and everyone who visits the region has the opportunity to enjoy all that Buttery Brook Park has to offer” said Representative Scibak.
