After hearing from quite a few constituents on the matter, I am pleased to announce that the House approved a budget amendment increasing funding for Regional Tourism Councils from $1,000,000 to $6,000,000 in the House budget.  This funding will be shared by the 13 councils across the state and represents a 200% increase over the current fiscal year. This increase in funding will help the RTCs to promote Massachusetts and bring us more visitors growing revenue, supporting businesses and expanding job growth. Tourism generates over $900 million in state and local tax revenue and is the 3rd largest industry in Massachusetts.  For every $1.00 spent on tourism, there is a return of $5.00.
