State Representative John Scibak (D-South Hadley) joined his colleagues in the Massachusetts House of Representatives yesterday in passing legislation that finances necessary improvements to the state’s transportation system. Rep. Scibak secured the following funding for infrastructure improvements in the 2nd Hampshire District: The City of Easthampton will receive $300,000 for the design and reconstruction of several intersections; Hadley will receive $400,000 to fund improvements on Route 47; and South Hadley will receive $600,000 for the reconstruction of the Canal Street and South Hadley Falls intersection “This funding has been a long time coming.  With this Chapter 90 funding, we will we be able to improve both the aesthetics and safety of our local transportation infrastructure.” said Representative Scibak. “I congratulate Chairman Straus and the Joint Committee on Transportation for their work on this important piece of legislation,” said House Speaker Robert A. DeLeo. “While this bill funds necessary repairs and infrastructure improvements that will ensure the safety of our drivers, it also provides assistance for new development projects that will create jobs across the state.”
