Boston – Speaker of the House Robert A. DeLeo has announced that State Representative John Scibak (D- South Hadley) has been named the House Chair of the Joint Committee on Public Service. “I appreciate Speaker DeLeo's confidence in giving me this opportunity and I’m thrilled to work with my colleagues in this capacity during the 2011-2012 legislative session,” said Scibak. The Committee on Public Service is responsible for considering all matters concerning the salaries, civil service and retirement of public employees, collective bargaining for state employees and other public employees. Representative Scibak will assume leadership of the Committee during a significant time. As the House Chair, Scibak will join the Senate Chair Katherine Clark (D-Melrose) in reviewing Governor Patrick's recently filed pension reform legislation. “I'm looking forward to working on the next phase of pension reform,” he said. “I am committed to ensuring that we have a system which is fair, equitable, and fiscally responsible for public employees and the taxpayers of the Commonwealth.”
